In a little over a month we will once again be able to cast our vote for those individuals that are running for election or running for re-election in the many state and national elected positions that need to be filled. When I say need to be filled I mean they need to be filled! To not vote just throws away your opportunity to have a say in the process. To this point about 50% of those individuals that have the right to vote won’t. I’m sure numerous reasons not to vote will be used. The one reason that’s used by most individuals is” It doesn’t matter.” While I understand this position I certainly don’t agree with it. Simply put it always matters. I have been a member of the Republican Party for the majority of my adult life but that doesn’t mean by any means that I vote for all the candidates on the Republican Side of the ballot. I listen to the people running to see what they have to say. I also spend time reading and investigating the candidates in order to attempt to figure out which candidates are committed to serving the needs of the people who they will be representing. This is the point where I make my decision. No political party, no reporter, no Political Action Committee and no news report makes it for me. I have come to believe for quite some time that political parties, news commentators and big money have taken over the process. The most discouraging part of all this is that” We The People” in my view have been tuned out. There is only one way to deal with this. “We The People” must take the process back. I also have come to believe that the overwhelming majority of elected officials have become the representatives of the Political Parties, The PACS and the Big Money. “We The People” need to change that. I’m sure this position brings out the question”How?” The answer in my view is to vote. Become informed and look past the noise. Don’t let the Political Parties, The PACS and the Big Money sway or take control of your vote. Don’t let the news media or the commercials take control. “We The People” must be in control. Let’s put the people that really understand why they are being elected in the positions. The candidates that win must be the ones that represent the needs and the concerns of the that voters not the machines that attempted to dictate who should be elected. That’s why every person that has the right to vote needs to vote. Without all the voters voting the Political Parties, PACS and the Big Money determine the direction of the elections. We, the Voters, must stop that from happening.
