Elections and The Use of The Media

10/2/18

For weeks now millions of dollars have been spent by candidates, their election committees and Political Action Committees in an attempt to influence the way people vote in the primaries and in the general election scheduled in about four weeks in every state in the United States. We are told by these ads why we should vote for a particular candidate. Do we see factual information? Not Much! Instead most ads replace facts with outlandish claims and allegations and distortions of information that are meant to discredit the candidate’s opponent. The ads are also used in an attempt to scare “We The People” into believing that if the voters don’t heed the warnings in the ad they will loose their healthcare, their Social Security Benefits or their taxes will increase beyond their ability to pay them. To late! Taxes are already increasing beyond the ability of most people to pay them without decreasing the people’s quality of life. Healthcare is already extremely difficult to pay for and for some people they have already lost their healthcare altogether because the cost is beyond their means.  Add to all of this the three increases in the prime interest rate by the U.S. Federal Reserve Board in recent months and the cost of living for most individuals just continues to rise. “Not So!” say most of the candidates and the Federal Reserve. The politicians, the hopeful politicians and the Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell tell us that life is good. Their mutual claim is that jobs are plentiful, wages are increasing and the interest rate increases are to prevent inflation from eating away at the gains in the economy. If this is true I would ask “Why is the amount of credit debt by most people soaring out of control?” Why are interest rates on credit card accounts, care loans, home loans and any other loans out there either increasing or about to increase. The news media reports almost daily how and where the cost of living will increase next. If the economy was so healthy the stock market would not be soaring one day and tanking the next. Entire nations throughout the world are close to economic disaster or their economies have already collapsed and the world wide trade wars that are taking place are just adding fuel to the economic fire. I know I’m sounding more like a parrot then a concerned individual but “We The People” need to take back our right to govern. “We The People” need to be heard. “We The People” need to vote for representatives that will represent us not the power brokers that claim they are representing us. THE ONLY ONES THAT ARE GOING TO HELP US ARE US!!!
